For the 1999.5 model, Ford’s 7.3-liter Powerstroke V-8 diesel engine was fitted with a single Garrett GTP38 turbocharger. The wastegated turbo had a new inducer and exducer diameter for the 7.3 turbo compressor wheel, along with a bigger pedestal and compressor housing outlet.
Upgrading your truck’s compressor wheel can get rid of compressor surge, lower spool times, and improve power and performance while boosting fuel economy. You can further enhance performance and lower exhaust gas temperatures by replacing the 7.3 compressor housing. A new housing can also eliminate compressor surge while increasing durability in high boost applications.
