Cold Air Intake

A turbocharger isn’t the only way to get more air into the engine. An LB7 Duramax cold air intake finds cooler air inside the engine department and sends it to the intake manifold. Th logic behind a 6.6 Duramax cold air intake is simple. As the engine produces heat, the air under the hood tends to be pretty hot. Hotter air is less dense, so your engine is getting less oxygen.

The cooler air provided by an LB7 Duramax air intake is denser, so more fuel can be burned with it, and the engine becomes more powerful as a result. A cold air system is a better option than a standard 6.6 Duramax air intake if you want to add some power to  our truck.

A 6.6 Duramax intercooler works on a similar principle. It cools the air heading into the vehicle’s turbocharger, thus making it denser and making the turbocharger more efficient. An intercooler system isn’t overly complex, but it does consist of several parts. The best way to get the parts you need for a full LB7 Duramax intercooler system rebuild is to purchase an LB7 intercooler pipe kit, which contains all of the LB7 Duramax intercooler pipes the system needs — and a Duramax intercooler boot kit, which contains the parts used to connect those pipes.
