Fuel System
Without the proper care, the 5.9 Cummins’s fuel system can fail. With a Bosch high-pressure common-rail injection setup, the 5.9 uses a five-hole nozzle.
If your truck is experiencing hard starts, knocking, smoking, or fuel in the engine oil, it may be time to swap out the fuel filter. Regularly replacing the 5.9 Cummins fuel filter can help prevent any dirt or moisture from ending up in the injectors.
For this generation of the turbo-diesel inline-six engine, the fuel control actuator on the back of the 5.9 Cummins injector pump is prone to failure. A bad fuel control actuator can present several problems, including low power, a rough idle, improper rail pressure, or no start.
Take care of your Cummins’s fuel system with a new filter, injector pump, 5.9 Cummins fuel injectors, and more from Prosource Diesel.
