Injectors

With a Bosch high-pressure common-rail direct injection system, the 5.9-liter Cummins 24V diesel engine can have some problems with its fuel injectors.

As they spray fuel into the cylinders at about 25,000 psi, the 24V Cummins injectors are prone to leaking due to the amount of stress at that level of pressure. Additionally, as diesel fuel is not always free of dirt and other sediments, the injectors may also become clogged, resulting in less fuel being delivered into the engine’s cylinders. Symptoms of failing fuel injectors include misfires, fuel in engine oil, hard starts, and poor idling.
