Manufactured for the 2006 and 2007 model years, the short-lived 6.6-liter Duramax LBZ turbo-diesel V-8 engine produced 360 horsepower and 650 pounds-feet of torque. Equipped with a Garrett GT3788VA variable vane turbocharger and an air-to-air intercooler, the highly sought-after LBZ has been known to be fairly reliable.

However, that doesn’t mean that the LBZ was free of turbochargers problems, leading to a loss of boost while on the road. With normal wear and tear, the LBZ Duramax turbo may require servicing or replacement. Foreign objects can enter the turbocharger and damage the compressor wheel vanes, and up-pipes can crack and leak.
