Engine

With 350 horsepower and up to 1000 pounds-feet of torque, the 6.7-liter Cummins 24V engine is considered to be one of the better light-duty diesel engines. However, it still can have some issues down the road.

One problem that may arise is a blown head gasket, possibly due to the engine’s high cylinder pressures. The Cummins 24V head gasket may allow coolant to enter the combustion chambers or mix with oil. Symptoms of a bad head gasket include a sweet-smelling white smoke and overheating.
