Turbocharger

With a variable geometry turbocharger, the 6.7-liter Cummins ISB inline-six produced between 350 and 400 horsepower and 660 to 1,000 pounds-feet of torque. Even though it remains one of the most popular diesel engines on the market, this engine has reduced turbo lag compared to its predecessor thanks to its VGT. However, the 6.7 turbo can have issues down the road.

A common issue is too much turbo lag and reduced power with the Holset HE351VE turbocharger. Caused by excessive soot or oil coating the VGT vanes inside, the vanes become clogged and stuck in position. Fixing this issue involves either taking apart the turbocharger and cleaning it or a full 6.7 Cummins turbo replacement. These turbochargers also face issues with leaking oil seals, worn bearings, and compressor wheel damage.
