Touted as a reliable engine, the 6.6-liter LML Duramax has 397 horsepower and 765 pounds-feet of torque.

This generation of Duramax diesel engines received a reinforced block and internals. The rods and pistons were made lighter than those found in the LMM. These updates helped reduce the probability of cracking components, therefore improving the engine’s durability and reliability. GM also changed the profile of the main bearings to add oil film thickness.

The improved internal engine components allow the engine to handle up to 700 rear-wheel horsepower, making it ideal for those who want to upgrade the engine with LML performance parts.
