Intake

A turbocharger is an efficient way to get more power out of your truck’s engine. But in modern diesels like an LML Duramax, a turbocharger is rarely acting alone. A vital component in any turbocharging system is the LML intercooler, which cools the hot air that has been compressed by the turbocharger down and ensures it is as oxygen-rich as possible before it enters the engine.

Once the air from the turbocharger has been cooled by the LML Duramax intercooler, it travels along the LML cold side intercooler pipe to the engine’s intake manifold. Although it is sometimes overlooked, it is important that your LML Duramax cold side intercooler pipe is in good condition otherwise, your LML intercooler may not perform as efficiently.

However, the air going into the engine doesn’t always need to be cooled. A diesel engine like the one found in the LML Duramax may struggle if it is forced to start in cold conditions. So heating the air coming in through the air intake can help the vehicle perform reliably in colder weather. That’s where the LML air intake heater comes in.

An LML intake heater, like the one found in an LML Duramax, uses power from the battery to warm the air that is being drawn into the engine. If your LML air intake heater is damaged, worn, or just needs maintenance — consider buying an LML intake kit that contains all the parts you need to work on your LML Duramax’s air intake.
