While GM equipped this generation of Duramax engines with a Bosch CP4 fuel injection pump, it did not install a factory LML lift pump. This decision resulted in destructive consequences, as the high-pressure injection pump failed due to the amount of stress and sent metal contaminants through the fuel system, damaging other parts.
