Modern brake fluids are glycol-based and comply with DOT3, DOT4, or DOT5.1 standards. Glycol-based fluids are hygroscopic which means they absorb moisture. It is vital to change your brake fluid at regular intervals to maintain the integrity of the braking system and the safety characteristics of your truck. The DOT 4 LV Pentosin brake fluid is great for performance and heavy-duty applications equipped with ESP and ABS systems. The low viscosity nature of this fluid makes it easier for systems that require an easy fluid to push through it’s veins quickly while keeping the car shiny side up and brakes not locked. This fluid is fully backward compatible to cars even without ABS.
When doing a fluid replacement make sure you do a complete flush this can take a few liters of fluid. Modern cars may have ABS pumps that require the use of a scan tool to activate bleeding procedures in order to correctly pump the old fluid out.
