Turbocharger
A turbocharger is a great way to get more power from an engine. Turbochargers force air into the engine’s combustion chambers and produce far more power than their naturally aspirated counterparts. Unfortunately, a turbocharger, including the turbo for the 1999 7.3 Powerstroke, doesn’t last forever, and some parts will eventually need to be replaced. Even if a replacement isn’t needed, you might want to consider an early 99 7.3 turbo upgrade.
Not all parts are located within the turbo itself. The early 99 7.3 up pipes connect the early 99 7.3 turbo to the exhaust manifold and allow gases to flow from the manifold into the turbo. These hot gasses spin the 7.3 turbo wheel, which then sucks air into the engine.
If the up pipes are worn or damaged, there is a chance that the 1999 7.3’s turbo won’t run efficiently if it even runs at all. So it’s important you check on your 1999 7.3 Powerstroke turbo and replace any parts that are damaged.
You can also purchase additional parts to perform an upgrade on your 1999 7.3 Powerstroke turbo and get even more power from your engine. A 1999 7.3 Powerstroke turbo upgrade can be performed by purchasing and replacing parts like the early 99 7.3 turbo pedestal.
